4 Tell-Tale Signs It's Time for a New Roof

The longevity of your house depends on a couple of factors, which include; the one who installed the roof, its material, previous maintenance, environmental tendencies, etc.

1. Leakage

If your roof is leaking it is a critical sign to show that your roof must be repaired. Ignoring the roof leaks puts your home at a dangerous risk. Your whole roof may or may not need to be replaced, but repairs are urgent at the least.

If you have spotted a leak somewhere, we recommend contacting an expert for proper inspection. Roof leaks have been known to damage electrical systems, insulation, and ceilings.

2. Notches or rain slots

If your roof is made of fibreglass shingles or asphalt, you should look at the notches between the tabs. If the surfaces of the shingles are dented, bent, cracked or warped, it is a really good idea to have a professional inspection of your roof.

3. Shingle granules

If your shingle granules are worn out then your roof needs repair. A competent inspector can probably diagnose the shingle granules and tell you if you need to repair or replace the roof right away. The granules play an important role protecting the shingles. If the granules are gone, you have a big problem.

4. Storm damage

Some roofs are not very old but due to severe weather damage they may need repair or replacement.

If any storm or other damage affects your roof you should check any warranties you have and request an insurance evaluation about the coverage. If you are missing parts of your roof from a storm, then the roof definitely needs repair and may need replacement.
